Taiwan: wastes recycle and reuse
Asia Cement and its subsidiaries wastes are mainly generated from operational activities, such as the maintenance and replacement of the manufacturing process or pollution prevention equipment, the consumable material for maintenance or the replacement of auxiliary material. Most of the generated wastes can be recycled and reused.
Asia Cement's Waste Recycling and Reuse
Regarding waste recycling and reuse within the facility, Hualien Plant handles cement kiln wastes, primarily waste firebricks. External waste processing involves recycled rubber and metal pieces, varying yearly based on replacement needs. Using 2021 as a reference, Asia Cement aims for waste reduction, reuse, and recycling. Hualien Plant has introduced a crusher for circular economy materials, and future plans include reusing domestic waste and pursuing zero waste through local Environmental Bureau collaboration.
Subsidiaries outsourced disposal (incineration, landfill) of consumables and manufacturing-related wastes. Ya Tung Ready-mixed Concrete, Ya Li Precast, and Nan Hwa Cement self-process and recycle car wash and manufacturing wastes. Fu Ming (Da) Transport outsources waste tire and oil recycling. Other subsidiary-generated wastes are recycled by legal waste recycle companies.
Resource Management of Asia Cement and its subsidiaries: Using recyclable and regenerated material
- Hualien Plant uses external recycled raw material and in-plant waste (refractory brick, etc.) as the alternative raw material of cement
- Hsinchu Plant, Nanhua Cement Corp. and Ya Tung Ready-Mixed Concrete Corp are using desulfuration gypsum, blast furnace slag and fly ash as the alternative raw material
- Nanhua Cement used the recyclable material of water quench blast furnace slag 100% in the grinding process of slag powder
- Only Yuan Long Stainless Steel among Asia Cement and subsidiaries uses lining paper to protect its products due to their specific properties.
