Waste Recycling and Reduction Targets

Asia Cement promotes waste reduction, recycling and reuse. The manufacturing processes of Asia Cement and its subsidiaries generate no hazardous industrial waste, and waste is reused, treated and reported in accordance with applicable environmental regulations. In 2025, Asia Cement's waste recycling and reuse rate was 96%. Final disposal comprised 59 metric tons incinerated off-site and zero metric tons landfilled.
 

Asia Cement's Waste Recycling and Reuse

Using 2021 as the baseline year, Asia Cement has set targets for waste recycling, reuse and reduction. Hualien Plant reuses waste refractory bricks from its cement kilns and has introduced a crusher to process alternative materials for the circular economy. Other recyclable waste is handled by licensed recyclers. In 2025, the waste recycling and reuse rate reached 96%, exceeding the 90% target. The off-site disposal reduction target was not met, as repairs following the 2024 earthquake generated additional waste for off-site disposal. Asia Cement continues to plan for the reuse of domestic waste within the plant as it moves toward zero waste.

Resource Management of Asia Cement and its subsidiaries: Using recyclable and regenerated material

In 2025, Asia Cement used 644,122 metric tons of recycled materials, accounting for 9.8% of all materials used. Its subsidiaries used 1,063,776 metric tons, accounting for 14.4%. Recycled materials include externally recycled materials, waste refractory bricks, desulfurization gypsum, slag and fly ash. Nanhwa Cement uses recycled granulated blast furnace slag for 100% of the raw material in its slag-powder grinding process.
