The year of 2019 was defined by Asia Cement as the baseline year in setting the target of energy consumption, the consumption and intensity of energy would be reduced by 1% each year. In 2022, the Company reached the target of energy intensity and the energy consumption was slightly higher than the target due to the increase of production output.

Performmance of energy saving from Asia Cement and its subsidiaries

In 2022, Asia Cement Hsinchu/Hualien Plants and the subsidiaries strived for implementing energy saving project and reached excellent outcome. A total of 16 action plans were implemented and saved 701 TJ of heat value, among which the electricity was saved approximately 13,960,000 KW/h enough for the consumption of 3,305 households. A total of NT$120 million is saved each year from 16 action plans, the amount of investment was NT$280 millions and the average period of return on investment is 2.2 years.

Demand-side Management Program

Asia Cement Corporation has implemented an demand-side management program within its manufacturing plant areas by participating in Taiwan Power Company's demand bidding measures. When Taiwan Power Company anticipates a potential shortfall in electricity supply during peak demand periods, they initiate demand bidding measures. These measures involve reducing peak electricity loads in exchange for electricity cost reductions. Participation in demand bidding measures falls under load-shifting management, contributing to grid stability. From 2016 to 2022, Asia Cement has cumulatively reduced its electricity consumption by a total of 11.99 million kWh and obtained a total electricity cost reduction of NT$124.48 million.

Asia Cement cooperates with the government's green energy policy of “building solar power facilities by 2025”.

  • Asia Cement: Expected to build up to 3.7MW ahead of schedule in 2023.
  • Subsidiaries: 0.96MW currently under construction, expected to reach 2.84MW.
  • Asia Cement China: 0.14MW currently under construction, expected to reach 10.8MW by 2030.
