Serving the Local Community for a Comprehensive Improvement 

In recent years Asia Cement takes the responsibilities of caring for beach, windbreak, road lamps, road trees, parks, phoenix trees on Tai #9 provincial road, Tai #3 romantic provincial road, to deepen dedication towards this area.

1. ACC’s Hualien Plant adopted the windbreak protection forest No. 2617 in Shun’an Village Xincheng Township, Hualien. The area covers over 43 hectares and assists in cleaning up the beach on the southern bank of the Shun’an fishing ground (approximately 1 kilometer long and 20 meters wide). ACC maintained the windbreak forests 12 times and conducted 12 beach cleanups.
2. ACC’s Hualien Plant inspected and dredged the drainage facilities in the tribal areas based on the weather forecast from the Central Weather Administration or actual weather conditions. After the disasters, larger excavators are deployed as needed to remove fallen trees and restore smooth traffic flow.
3. ACC’s Hualien Plant assisted in the maintenance of the landscape along the Hualien County Avenue No. 5 in Xincheng Township, totaling approximately 1 kilometer.
4. ACC’s Hualien Plant received the "2022 Clean Air Quality Area Adoption - Service Model Award" from the Ministry of Environment.
5. Since 2003, ACC’s Hsinchu Plant has participated in the road adoption program organized by Hsinchu County Government, assisting Hengshan Township Office in maintaining the cleanliness of Provincial Highway No. 3 and contributing to the beautification of the Taiwan Romantic Route 3.
6. Ya Tung Ready-mixed Concrete attaches great importance to wetland conservation and has held 6 sessions of wetland environmental protection activities.

Industry-Academia Practice in the Cement Industry Chain 

ACC and its subsidiary,Ya Tung Ready-Mixed Concrete, have been open to academic groups on a long-term basis to explain the operation of industrial processes and practical technology. They have also donated materials such as cement, coarse sand, concrete, etc., for students to use in experiments in the classroom. Through knowledge sharing, they contribute to both the campus and society. 

• To help the students adjust to the workplace early and plan their careers, Ya Tung Ready-mixed Concrete occasionally arranges visits for nearby schools to visit the plant to explain the latest concrete technology. In 2023, a total of 270 students from 4 schools participated. Materials for concrete experiments were also provided to schools, and the quality of talent in the construction industry is improved through industry-academia exchanges. 
• ACC’s Hualien Plant and Xinchengshan Mine are open for academic institutions to apply for visits. The topics include quarry geology, natural resources and environment, materials and resources engineering, etc. According to statistics, in 2023, there were a total of 51 visits with 1,481 participants

Assistance in Local Construction of Medical and Educational Infrastructure

Mr. Y. Z. Hsu, the founder of the Far Eastern Group and ACC, adheres to the philosophy of “taking from society, giving back to society”. He has established public welfare initiatives using the resources of the Group to contribute to the education, culture, arts, healthcare, and technology fields, giving back to society. The Far Eastern Medical Foundation, dedicated to medical research and social services, has established Far Eastern Memorial Hospital, the first modern hospital in New Taipei City. For over forty years, Far Eastern Memorial Hospital has integrated ESG sustainability into its business strategy, focusing on hospital governance, patient needs, social contribution, employee welfare, environmental protection, and social welfare, becoming a leading medical center in New Taipei City. 

Far Eastern Memorial Hospital provides support for social problems through medical expertise and social resources, mainly providing assistance for vulnerable groups, safety, and support for patients and their families. The diverse service solutions have shown significant results, dedicated to establishing a patient-centered medical culture. 

Nurturing Talent. Yuan Ze University Responding to Climate Change and Cultivating Sustainable Talent 

Yuan Ze University, with core principle of "cultivating the seeds of sustainability and sustaining the momentum for development", combines its advantages in professional fields to promote sustainable development and fulfill social responsibility. With "local care" and "industrial linkage" as the focus, we are committed to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations and Taiwan, and expanding and deepening sustainable impact in the four major dimensions of society, culture, economy, and environment. 

In response to the goal of net-zero carbon emissions by 2050, Yuan Ze University hosted the "Climate Change and Sustainability Summit Forum" and invited " R20 Regions of Climate Action" to participate, bringing international perspectives and sustainability insights. Several companies under the Far Eastern Group, including ACC, joined hands to fulfill environmental responsibilities together. In 2023, Yuan Ze University was approved by the Ministry of Education to establish "Net-Zero Carbon Emissions and Sustainable Development Post- Baccalaureate Program" to help solve environmental challenges faced by the industry. We also established the "Corporate Academy" to cultivate industry talent with sustainability literacy.
